Sara Pinkus

Sara Pinkus is a photojournalist and photographic artist with a passion for discovering and sharing the stories found in everyday life. For two decades, she has volunteered with charitable and nonprofit organizations, experiences that have shaped her appreciation for community and connection. After retiring from a career in banking in 2022, she began freelancing for The Bucks County Herald, photographing a wide range of community events. Sara embraces multiple photographic styles and genres, fueling her creative passion and her desire to continually grow as an artist.

Sara has received several Keystone Media Awards for photographs published in The Bucks County Herald. Her artistic and street photography have been featured in ICM Photography Magazine and Edge of Humanity Magazine. She is a longtime member of the Churchville Photography Club and currently serves on its steering committee. She is also a longtime member of the Doylestown Photography Club and recently joined the Lehigh Valley Photography Club.

Artist Statement

I use photography to tell visual stories and convey the essence of lived experiences, with a deep appreciation for both authentic observation and artistic interpretation.

In the role of photojournalist, I seek out the details that give each story its own unique perspective. Architectural, landscape, cityscape, and waterscape imagery set the stage, while candid moments of people interacting with their surroundings and with each other convey a location’s culture and energy. Macro and close-up images, along with quirky or unexpected details, bring a place to life. My goal is to transport viewers—to make them feel as though they were there.
As a photographic artist I lean into techniques such as Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), multiple exposure and creative post process editing, allowing me to explore the interplay of motion, color, and light, transforming reality into impressionistic and abstract imagery. This approach complements my documentary work, extending careful observation into an artistic expression that encompasses both the familiar and the unexpected in the world around us.

Whether documenting real-life moments or transforming them into impressionistic and abstract imagery, my goal remains the same: to invite viewers to pause, look more closely, and perhaps see something familiar in an entirely new way.
